WHAT IS SCALP MICROPIGMENTATION (SMP)?

Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP), is the process of replicating the look of hair follicles with pointillism. Four sessions are required to achieve the desired look of a shaved head of hair, or a denser crown. A small needle and diluted ink are used to mimic shaved hair follicles with the process of pointillism, in order to create balance between the existing hair and the hair that was lost. Scalp Micropigmentation can be useful to both male and female patrons suffering from hair loss.

MINIMAL HAIRLOSS

HAIRLOSS AT THE TEMPLES

The most common form of hairloss is at the temples as men and women begin to age. SMP is a great way to add density to these areas in a subtle way, which can bring down the hairline, or densify the partline. The causes of hair loss can vary, but some of the most common causes include genetics, hormonal changes, certain medications, and medical conditions such as thyroid disorders, and autoimmune diseases. It's important to note that while hair loss can be more commonly associated with men, women can also experience significant hair loss and often need their entire hairline reconstructed in order to blend in with native follicles.

MODERATE HAIRLOSS

HAIRLOSS AT THE TEMPLES & MID-CROWN

The second most common form of hairloss concerns the hairline to mid-crown. Often men and women begin to see a massive change to their hairline, partline, mid-crown, or cowlick. In order to ensure density is achieved, a pattern is overlaid on top of previous work to create density on the crown. Hair loss at the temples, or mid-crown of the head is a common pattern of hair loss in both men and women. In men, it is often referred to as male pattern baldness, and it typically starts with hair thinning at the temples and crown, before gradually progressing to other areas of the scalp. In women, it is normally visible at the hair line, part line, or cow-lick.

ADVANCED HAIRLOSS

HAIRLOSS AT THE TEMPLES

The third most common form of hairloss is for men who have lost their hairline, mid-crown, and back of the crown. On average this affects men over the age of 40. A reconstructed hairline and density throughout the crown ensure naturally healed results which blend seamlessly with native follicles. To the naked eye the scalp is restored to a youthful position. The most common type of alopecia is androgenetic alopecia, also known as male or female pattern baldness. This type of alopecia is hereditary, and is caused by a combination of genetic and hormonal factors. It can affect men and women of all ages and often starts in childhood or early adulthood.
